Neutral Colors For The Apartment

Neutral colors are colors that do not appear in the color wheel and can be combined with all other colors. For example, white, black, gray or brown in different shades. They can be used on their own as a furnishing color, but can also serve as a basis for combining with a saturated color. The color wheel and the possible mixing ratios provide clues for the color decor of the room. What is shown schematically in the color wheel can actually be seen as a smooth transition. Wall colors are usually already mixed. In order to orientate yourself, however, many manufacturers offer colors that show possible mixing ratios. Depending on the mixing ratio, there is a different shade of color. Example: Green is not always green. Blue-green is mixed differently than yellow-green and has a different effect.

The following applies to wall paints: the addition of white makes a color lighter and reduces the saturation. This creates a pastel color. After the decision on the right colors for the home has been made, it is important to find the right place for the color accents. For that there are different possibilities.

  • The room remains white / neutral, furniture is colored
  • A single wall is designed in color as an accent
  • All walls are designed in color: Furniture remains neutral and the wall color is taken up in the design
  • Colorful walls – this must be taken into account when dividing up

If you have chosen colored walls, make sure that you can significantly influence the impression, especially of the size, of a room with the color scheme.
